Spokane Doesn't Suck

We dropped off our bags at "home"

and headed out to check out the Wednesday market.

Spokane is so different from the way I remember.  It was always so drab and grey.  Now everywhere you look is a neat new open market or a cool coffeeshop or a beautiful park.  Maybe my perspective is the only thing that's changed, but the Boo Radley's window display put it best:

The market had all kinds of delicious things to eat.  We started with Fannie's Ice Pops.  "Farm to stick" homemade fruit pops.

In the background is the Veraci pizza shop (owned by our friends' cousin) where we got a perfect gluten free pizza.  (The boys got an Udi's pizza later that night, so everyone was happy.)

We spent the rest of the afternoon wandering.  The boys lucked into a row of arcade games at the ice cream shop, so we sacrificed a handful of quarters to a few nostalgic rounds Donkey Kong and Pacman.  Ahhh...

Finally, we hit up the kids' zone, where kids had a chance to earn Market money, which they could then use to buy real produce from the many vendors.  At the end of the day, our gang walked away with 4 pints of organic, locally grown berries.

It was a perfect day.  And the perfect start to this next part of our journey.
