Farewell my friend

Goodbye my bike, you served me with care
May the one who stole you today be spared

I love that you carried me day after day.
Be faithful to your new owner that way

And may your owner be doubly blessed
With mercy and peace and love and rest

If we find you I'll give you that bike for free
You must've needed it more than me.

I was given a grace I had no right to claim
You don't deserve any less than the same

But may I suggest an unbreakable chain?
Or you may find yourself in need of a bike again.

  1. WOW!!
I didn't know you had a secret poet in you. This is beautiful. Although, I probably won't be as nice to a person who stole my bike as you are.
    This is beautiful :)

    1. I always like making silly rhyming poems.

When I started it, it was a rhyming rant, just for fun, to cheer me up out of my bad mood. But then it changed. :)

  2. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!! Someone stole your adorable bike???!!! Ugh! I'm glad you have taken the artistic road about the whole thing. I'll take the low road for you and hope they fall over when they ride it.

    1. Well, I won't tell you how it went at first, but it started with "Goodbye my bike, you served me well/Your rotten thief can go to...."

      I changed it halfway ;)

It was a cute bike. We asked around and put pictures on facebook and stuff to try to root it out, but by the time I was done with the poem, I think I really would let the person keep it. Things happen for a reason. Maybe if it had been there when I went to ride it home, I would have gotten in an accident. You just never know.

  3. Wow Robin, you are so nice. I would be so pissed and heartbroken! HAhaah I just read how your poem would've started-that sounds about right.

You are such a good poet!! I loved it! But I'm so sorry you lost your bike :( I've had a bike stolen, among other things, and it's the worst feeling.

    1. I was pretty bummed. But I had a long walk home to think about it. I have a lot of things to be grateful for. Some people's whole life would change if their bike got stolen. Lucky for me, we can make do without it.
